The Ryder Cup is a biennial golf match between teams from Europe and the United States.  The competition is jointly administered by the European Tour and PGA of America and is contested on venues alternating between Europe and the USA.

The Ryder Cup began following an exhibition match between a team of members from the British PGA and their American counterparts staged over the East Course at Wentworth in Surrey, England.

The Ryder Cup is named after Samuel Ryder who originally donated the trophy.
